Tanzania and Malawi Ministers for Transport and Public Works have agreed to establish a Joint Committee team with the main objective of guiding and overseeing the implementation of the Malawi-Tanzania corridor Transport System Agreement.
The two Countries held their first ever Joint Committee meeting from 31st August to 1st September, 2022 in Lilongwe - Malawi, among other things, were review and adopt terms of reference for the Joint Committee and share progress on the performance of the Tanzania-Malawi Transport Corridor and any other developments within the corridor.

The meeting aimed at operationalizing Article XVI of the Malawi-Tanzania Transport Corridor System Agreement, which empowers Ministers responsible for transport in both countries to establish a Joint Committee under the Agreement.
The meeting also served as a platform through which both countries were able to update each other on the performance of the Malawi-Tanzania Transport Corridor, recent development action plan and to address identified challenges.
